«Tesmoforiantes» is the classical Greek comedy by Aristophanes, translated by Inmaculada Rodríguez Moreno, in paperback (88 pages, in Spanish).
The play takes place within the framework of the Thesmophoria, a festival reserved for women, and uses that context to satirize theater and relations between the sexes. Aristophanes builds a plot full of misunderstandings and burlesque dialogues, with the verbal wit characteristic of classical Greek comedy.
This 2003 edition, published by Festivales Teatro Grecolatino, includes an introduction, a didactic guide and a translation by Inmaculada Rodríguez Moreno.
Intended for students and fans of classical theater; the didactic guide facilitates its use in the classroom.
Aristophanes was an Ancient Greek comic playwright from Athens. He wrote forty plays, of which eleven survive virtually complete. The majority of his surviving plays belong to the genre of comic drama known as Old Comedy and are considered its most valuable examples. Aristophanes's plays were performed at the religious festivals of Athens, mostly the City Dionysia and the Lenaia, and several of them won the first prize in their respective competitions.
