Jim Haynes, an American stationed in Scotland in the 1950s, opened Britain's first paperback bookstore, created the Arts Lab, edited International Times and launched Suck. The book covers those projects and his encounters with Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, John and Yoko, Mary Whitehouse and Mick Jagger, up to his time as a teacher in Paris.
Published in 1984, it bears the subtitle 'An Autobiography'; the cover quotes, among others, Germaine Greer, Yoko Ono and Richard Neville.
Will appeal to those wanting to learn about the British underground scene of the sixties and seventies, experimental theatre and the alternative press.
