«The Adventures of Captain Underpants» is Dav Pilkey's humorous children's novel, published by Gardners Books in paperback (128 pages, in English).
Jorge and Berto, two fourth-grade friends, hypnotize their strict principal, Mr. Krupp, and turn him into Captain Underpants, a superhero in underpants and a red cape. The adventure, with the diabolical Dr. Diaper as villain, mixes zany humor, black-and-white illustrations, and flip-o-rama pages.
It is the first installment of the Captain Underpants series. It won the Pennsylvania Young Readers' Choice Award in the Grades K-3 category in 2000.
Recommended for elementary school readers looking for a first approach to reading in English with visual and zany humor.
