La serie apareció por primera vez en francés en Le Petit Vingtième, un suplemento infantil del periódico belga Le Vingtième Siècle el 10 de enero de 1929. Ambientada en un mundo minuciosamente investigado que refleja fielmente el nuestro, la serie Tintín de Hergé sigue siendo una de las favoritas de lectores y críticos 80 años después. El héroe de la serie es Tintín, un joven reportero belga. Le ayudan en sus aventuras desde el principio su fiel perro fox terrier Milú. Más tarde, se añadieron al reparto personajes populares como el descarado, cínico y gruñón Capitán Haddock, el brillante pero deficiente auditivo Profesor Tornasol y otros personajes secundarios coloridos como los incompetentes detectives Hernández y Fernández.

Georges Prosper Remi, known by the pen name Hergé, from the French pronunciation of his reversed initials RG, was a Belgian comic strip artist. He is best known for creating The Adventures of Tintin, the series of comic albums that are considered one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century. He was also responsible for two other well-known series, Quick & Flupke (1930–1940) and The Adventures of Jo, Zette and Jocko (1936–1957). His works were executed in his distinctive ligne claire drawing style.
