«Travels in the Skin Trade: Tourism and the Sex Industry» is Jeremy Seabrook's essay, published by Pluto Press in paperback (192 pages, in English).
Based on interviews with sex workers and clients in Thailand, Jeremy Seabrook examines the relationship between tourism and the sex industry. Seabrook rejects sensationalist denunciations and offers a non-moralizing view, attentive to the paradoxes and North-South inequality that run through this trade.
This second edition, published in 2001, includes a new preface on the current situation of sex tourism in Thailand.
A work for readers of sociology, tourism economics, and gender and development studies.
Jeremy Richard Seabrook was an English author and journalist who specialised in social, environmental and development issues. His book The Refuge and the Fortress: Britain and the Flight from Tyranny was longlisted for the Orwell Prize.
