«Tschick» is the young adult novel by Wolfgang Herrndorf, published by Rowohlt Taschenbuch in paperback (270 pages, in German).
Maik, a teenager from a well-off family, expects to spend the holidays alone in the family villa, but the arrival of Tschick, a schoolmate, drags him into an improvised trip in a stolen Lada. They travel without a map through rural Germany; that route full of encounters changes his summer and his way of seeing the world.
The novel, originally published in 2010, received the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis in 2011 and was adapted into a movie.
Recommended for young and adult readers who enjoy coming-of-age stories and road trips.
