«Un invierno en Mallorca» (Ein Winter auf Mallorca) is George Sand's travelogue, published by Dtv in paperback (269 pages, in German).
In October 1838, George Sand traveled to Mallorca with Frédéric Chopin and her children to get away from Parisian society. What was meant to be a quiet stay turned into an adventure full of discomforts, narrated with humor, without hiding her fascination with the island's landscapes and culture.
The work was originally published in 1842; this German edition, translated by Ulrich C. A. Krebs, belongs to the dtv series, number 2157.
For readers of travel literature and for those who want to discover nineteenth-century Mallorca through the eyes of George Sand.

Being more renowned than either Victor Hugo or Honoré de Balzac in Britain in the 1830s and 1840s, Sand is recognised as one of the most notable writers of the European Romantic era. She has more than 50 volumes of various works to her credit, including tales, plays and political texts, alongside her 70 novels.
