«Un millón de muertos» is the historical novel by José María Gironella, published by Planeta in 1987 in paperback (608 pages, in Spanish).
This novel continues the narrative cycle opened by «Los cipreses creen en Dios»: it follows the members of a family throughout the Spanish Civil War and extends the story to the whole geography of the country, with a perspective that combines the human, the social and the military between July 18, 1936 and April 1, 1939.
Second installment of the trilogy formed by «Los cipreses creen en Dios» (1953), «Un millón de muertos» (1961) and «Ha estallado la paz» (1966). Edition from Planeta's Colección Popular.
For readers interested in the Spanish Civil War and in twentieth-century Spanish historical fiction.
