«Venus en India» is the erotic novel by Charles Devereaux, published by Tusquets Editores in paperback (288 pages, in Spanish).
Memoirs attributed to a captain of the British Army stationed in India, more interested in love than in war. Alternating erotic autobiography and Victorian fiction, it narrates his love affairs in Hindustan with simplicity and attention to the country's customs, far from the conventional spicy novel of his time.
The work is signed under the pseudonym of Charles Devereaux and was originally published in Brussels in 1889. In 1979 Tusquets included it in the La Sonrisa Vertical collection.
It is a work for readers of classic erotic literature interested in Victorian testimonies set in India.
