«Yo, Claudio» is the historical novel by Robert Graves, published by RBA in paperback (462 pages, in Spanish).
The novel follows Claudius, a member of the Roman imperial family whom everyone underestimates because of his tics and poor health, as he survives the conspiracies and crimes of his relatives until he becomes emperor. Graves thus portrays the rise and fall of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, with its alliances, betrayals and power struggles.
First installment of Robert Graves's Claudius saga; the original work was published in 1934 and won the James Tait Black and Hawthornden prizes.
For readers of historical fiction and classic fiction with an interest in ancient Rome and the intrigues of the imperial court.
Robert Ranke Graves, whose second name is sometimes given as von Ranke, was an English poet, novelist and critic. His father was Alfred Perceval Graves, a celebrated Irish poet and figure in the Gaelic revival; they were both Celticists and students of Irish mythology.
