Bruno Fischer was a German-born American author of weird and crime fiction.

Bruno Fischer was born in Germany in 1908 before emigrating to the United States with his family at the age of five.

Before dedicating himself to literature, he worked as a sports and police reporter for the Long Island Daily Press.

His prolific career includes the authorship of 38 works, with titles such as The Lady Kills standing out.

He wrote hundreds of mystery and suspense stories under his own name and the pseudonym Russell Gray.

In 1945, he introduced his most iconic character, private investigator Ben Helm, in the novel The Dead Men Grin.
