Lise Gast was born in Leipzig in 1908 and dedicated her life to children's and young adult literature.
Her deep passion for horses, which began during her childhood in the countryside, influenced both her personal life and her writing.
Although she trained as an agricultural teacher due to her love for horses, she became a prolific writer with 57 published works.
In 1955, she founded a pony farm in Lorch, a project that combined her role as a breeder with her creative inspiration.
In addition to her work as an author, she was a translator, bringing works from Dutch and English into German.
