Jessica Mitford was one of the six legendary daughters of Lord and Lady Redesdale.
Born in Oxfordshire, she built much of her career as a journalist and activist in the United States.
Her most famous work, The American Way of Death, is a landmark in investigative journalism.
She moved to the United States in 1939 and lived in Oakland, California, from the 1940s onwards.
Throughout her life, she published a total of 19 works focusing on biography, history, and human rights.
