Sarah Mallory was born in Bristol and began inventing stories for her school friends during break times.
Her passion for writing was so strong that she was once caught scribbling stories in French class, leading her teacher to make her translate them as punishment.
Before becoming a full-time author, she worked in diverse fields ranging from marine engineering to biscuit manufacturing.
She published her first novel, Fortune's Lady, under the pen name Melinda Hammond shortly after her daughter was born.
