Phil O'Keefe was born in North Shields in 1948 and dedicated his life to geography.

His major work, Managing Adaptation to Climate Risk, is a benchmark in climate change studies.

Throughout his career, he published a total of 23 works focused on sustainable development.

His research deeply explored the relationship between power resources and economic development.

O'Keefe focused much of his academic work on the environmental and political challenges of the African continent.
