In a small mountain village lives a man named Peppino, an optimist who loves fishing and his job at the local library. One day, due to a political error, Peppino is mistakenly elected President of the Italian Republic. Pulled from his quiet life, he must play a role for which he is clearly unprepared, but his common sense and instinctive gestures prove incredibly effective. As he navigates the challenges of the presidency, his joyful madness and disarming honesty surprise the institutions and win over a disheartened country, despite the conspiracies and political machinations looming on the horizon.
