«Born on the Fourth of July» is Oliver Stone's 1989 film, starring Tom Cruise, Willem Dafoe and Kyra Sedgwick, on DVD.
It tells the story of Ron Kovic, a young American who enlists in the Marines and is sent to Vietnam. Wounded in combat, he returns home paralyzed and disillusioned with the war and his country. The film thus addresses patriotism, the loss of ideals and the physical and moral aftermath of the conflict.
138-minute DVD, with audio in English and Italian and English subtitles. Winner of two Academy Awards, including Best Director.
A film of interest to adult viewers seeking a war drama about Vietnam and its consequences.
