«Campanadas a medianoche» is the 1967 Orson Welles movie, starring Orson Welles, Jean Moreau and John Gielgud, on DVD.
Shakespeare adaptation shot by Orson Welles in Spain in 1965: it interweaves passages from «Ricardo II», «Enrique IV» and «Las alegres comadres de Windsor» around Sir John Falstaff, played by the director himself. The film contrasts friendship and the ambition for power in 15th-century England and includes a battle emblematic of Welles's cinema.
The DVD offers audio in Spanish and English and English subtitles, with a scene menu, trailer and interviews. PAL 4:3 format, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Rating: ages 13 and over.
For film enthusiasts interested in Shakespeare adaptations and the filmography of one of the great masters of European cinema.
