Cool Runnings is a 1993 sports comedy film directed by Jon Turteltaub, starring Leon Robinson, Doug E. Doug, Rawle D. Lewis, Malik Yoba, and John Candy. The film is loosely based on the true story of the Jamaica national bobsleigh team's debut at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Despite being a comedy, the film touches on themes of perseverance, teamwork, and overcoming obstacles. The story follows a group of Jamaican athletes who, with the help of an unconventional coach, attempt to compete in a winter sport for which they are ill-prepared.
