A young doctor in an intensive care unit becomes trapped in an ethical dilemma when the daughters of a comatose patient clash over whether to disconnect him or not, with a million-dollar inheritance at stake. The film, whose motto says that in the hospital no one dies until the insurance runs out, combines drama and satire to portray the economic interests of the healthcare system and the struggles of conscience.
For those interested in medical dramas with ethical dilemmas, social satire and an ensemble cast featuring Helen Mirren, Anne Bancroft and Albert Brooks.
