«Das Boot - The Director's Cut» is the movie by Wolfgang Petersen (1982), starring Jürgen Prochnow, Herbert Grönemeyer and Klaus Wennemann, on DVD.
It recounts the odyssey of a German submarine crew during World War II, confined in a narrow space while alternating patrols, attacks and escapes in the Atlantic. The director's cut adds scenes not seen at the original release and underscores the tension, fear and camaraderie of men who end up as prey.
Special edition from EuroVideo, published in 1999; the director's cut runs 208 minutes, with 2.35:1 picture and audio in German and English in Dolby Digital 5.1. FSK 12.
Will appeal to fans of war and historical cinema and to those who value the director's cut of this classic of German cinema.
