«Desperate Living» is the 1977 John Waters movie, starring Liz Renay, Mink Stole and Susan Lowe, on DVD.
After fleeing their everyday life, a housewife and her maid arrive in Mortville, a marginal settlement where a former prison guard rules with an iron fist. The film uses this setting to practice a corrosive satire of power, hypocrisy and social conventions.
French DVD edition from Metropolitan Film & Video, with original English version and French subtitles. Running time: 88 minutes. Region 2. Part of the La collection John Waters series.
Will appeal to fans of cult cinema and John Waters' transgressive filmography, especially his 1970s period.
