Young Jean suffers a serious car accident and is at death's door. Her father turns to Dr. Vollin, a prestigious retired neurosurgeon obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe, who manages to save her. During her convalescence, Vollin falls in love with her, but Jean is engaged to another man. The rejection awakens the doctor's most sinister side, willing to do anything to win her. The movie is loosely inspired by Poe's poem «El cuervo» to build a story of psychological horror.
