Lou Ford is a deputy sheriff in a small Texas town, a man who appears charming and unassuming. However, his life hides a dark reality: trouble with women, conflicts with the law, and a growing number of murders in his jurisdiction that point to him as the prime suspect. Based on the novel by Jim Thompson, this film directed by Michael Winterbottom is an intense psychological thriller where nothing is as it seems.
