Ace in the Hole is a 1951 film noir directed by Billy Wilder, starring Kirk Douglas as a cynical, down-on-his-luck reporter who manipulates a rescue operation of a trapped miner to jump-start his career. The film is a scathing critique of media sensationalism and the public's appetite for tragedy.
