Yankee Irving, a ten-year-old baseball fan, is always the last to be picked to play. When Babe Ruth's bat is stolen during the 1932 World Series, Yankee sets out to recover it and return it to his idol. In that adventure he discovers what true heroes are made of and learns the value of perseverance and friendship.
