Two millionaire brothers decide to make an unusual bet: to give a check for one million pounds to a poor man, on the condition that he cannot use it for a month. The chosen one is an American lawyer in London, without friends and without resources. Upon receiving the money, his life takes an unexpected turn. This film, directed by Ronald Neame, is based on the work of Mark Twain and stars Gregory Peck, Joyce Grenfell and Ronald Squire.
