«Éxodo» is the movie by Otto Preminger (1960), starring Paul Newman and Eva Marie Saint, on DVD.
It narrates the birth of Israel in 1948. A group of Holocaust survivors led by Ari Ben Canaan (Paul Newman) manages to leave the British internment camp in Cyprus and set sail for Palestine on the ship «Éxodo». The plot opposes the visions of the resistance leaders: Akiva's armed path versus the negotiation of his nephew Ari.
It was nominated for three Academy Awards and won Best Score. Soundtrack and subtitles in Spanish and English. Rated for all audiences.
