«Gomorra» is the movie by Matteo Garrone (2008), starring Toni Servillo, Gianfelice Imparato and Salvatore Abruzzese, on DVD.
Adaptation of Roberto Saviano's book, «Gomorra» delves into the world of the Camorra in the provinces of Naples and Caserta. Five intersecting stories show how organized crime marks everyday life: teenagers who want to rise in the business, inhabitants who must obey its codes, and entrepreneurs involved in illegal waste dumping. A raw and anti-spectacular look at the Italian mafia.
DVD from the Italian edition, region 2, distributed by 01 Distribution, with Italian audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 and subtitles in Italian and English for the hearing impaired; no Spanish audio or subtitles.
For adult viewers interested in European social cinema and a vision of the Camorra without idealization, far from mafia movie clichés.
