«Jane Austen en Manhattan» is the movie by James Ivory starring Anne Baxter, Robert Powell and Sean Young, on DVD.
Two rival theatre companies compete for the premiere of the same play: an adaptation of Sir Charles Grandison written by Jane Austen at age twelve as a parody of Samuel Richardson's novel. The struggle to stage it in New York drives this story.
One disc, region 2, with 4:3 picture, audio in Spanish and original English version, and Spanish subtitles. Includes the documentary «Venecia: Temas y variaciones» (25 min). Not recommended for under-18s.
May appeal to fans of James Ivory's movies, Jane Austen adaptations and the Merchant Ivory collection.
