«Le Rossignol» is the film by Christian Chaudet (2005), starring Natalie Dessay, Marie McLaughlin and Violeta Urmana, on DVD.
Filmed version of Igor Stravinsky's opera, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's tale. A boy enters his grandfather's pottery workshop at night, finds a large vase that comes to life, and witnesses, as if in a dream, the story of the nightingale, with a setting that blends Chinese art and nods to the modern world.
Released on April 1, 2005 by Virgin Classics, with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opéra National de Paris conducted by James Conlon. Audio in Russian and French, with English subtitles; running time: 50 minutes.
For fans of opera, Stravinsky's repertoire and audiovisual adaptations of classic tales.
