Synopsis of Nova Zembla
Nova Zembla es una película dramática holandesa de 2011 dirigida por Reinout Oerlemans. La película cuenta la historia del viaje real de Willem Barentsz, quien en 1596 intentó encontrar una ruta marítima más corta a la India yendo hacia el norte sobre Rusia a través de aguas desconocidas. El barco y su tripulación llegaron sorprendentemente lejos, logrando rodear la punta norte de la isla Nova Zembla antes de quedar irrevocablemente atrapados en el hielo. Plagados por el hambre, el frío extremo y los ataques de osos polares, los hombres sobrevivieron al invierno demoliendo su barco de madera y utilizando las tablas para construir un gran refugio en la isla. Cuando llegó la primavera, los supervivientes demolieron el refugio, construyeron un barco más pequeño y lograron regresar a los Países Bajos.
