«Othello» is the 1952 movie directed by and starring Orson Welles, with Suzanne Cloutier and Micheál MacLiammóir, on DVD.
Adaptation of Shakespeare's play of the same name. Othello, a Moorish general in the service of Venice, has married Desdemona, but Iago, resentful at not having received the promotion he expected, hatches a plan to make him believe his wife is unfaithful. From that suspicion, the drama moves towards a tragic conclusion.
The DVD edition offers black-and-white picture, English audio and French subtitles. Running time: 89 minutes. It won the Palme d'Or at the 1952 Cannes Film Festival.
