«Rapariga com Brinco de Pérola» is a 2003 drama and art film on DVD, about the young woman who inspired Vermeer.
Set in 17th-century Holland, it follows Griet, a young woman who goes to work as a maid in the house of the painter Johannes Vermeer. The fascination the artist feels for her and the relationship between them end up inspiring one of his most famous paintings, in a drama of social tensions and artistic sensibility.
DVD edition from the Grandes Expresso (RAI) collection. Languages: English and Portuguese. Distributed by Lionsgate.
For lovers of period drama and stories about art and the great painters.
