Wes Craven's smash hit horror movie is a post-modern take on the slasher cycle of the late Seventies and early Eighties. In the small American town of Woodsboro, a psychotic freak with a love of horror flicks murders teenager Casey Becker. The killer then begins terrorising Casey's classmate, Sidney Prescott, whose mother was murdered a year earlier. When Sidney encounters the stalker and escapes, her boyfriend Billy is arrested. However, the phone calls and killings continue.
