A New York executive, Meredith Morton, prepares to meet her boyfriend's family, the Stones, during the Christmas holidays. However, the Stones' welcome is anything but warm. Sybil, the matriarch, and her children, each with very marked personalities, make Meredith feel uncomfortable and out of place. As the week progresses, Meredith asks her sister Julie for help, which triggers a series of entanglements and unexpected changes in family relationships. The film explores themes of acceptance, love, and the complexity of family relationships, all with a touch of comedy and drama.
