«Three Extremes» is a horror anthology movie directed by Fruit Chan, Park Chan-wook and Takashi Miike (2004), on DVD.
Three Extremes brings together three horror stories by three Asian directors: Dumplings, by Fruit Chan; Cut, by Park Chan-wook; and Box, by Takashi Miike. Each unfolds a disturbing universe around fear, revenge and the grotesque, with a visually distinctive mise-en-scène that plays with the unsettling and the explicit.
A co-production of Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan, presented in a video-store edition that labels each segment as «the extreme» of its country.
Recommended for fans of Asian horror and auteur cinema, with three very different approaches to the genre.
