«Une éducation manquée / La Voix humaine» brings together two opera productions staged by Pierre Jourdan, released on DVD by Cascavelle and sung in French.
The program combines Emmanuel Chabrier’s «Une éducation manquée», in the version arranged by Darius Milhaud, with Francis Poulenc’s «La Voix humaine», set to a text by Jean Cocteau. Franck Cassard, Mary Saint-Palais and Philippe Fourcade perform in the first work, and Anne-Sophie Schmidt in the second. The musical direction is by Michel Swierczewski with the Sinfonietta de Picardie, and Jean-Luc Tingaud with the Orchestre OstinatO, respectively.
This 2003 edition belongs to the «L’Opéra français» collection and includes an additional DVD about the history of the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne. The performances were recorded at that theater in October 1994 and March 2000; the set has a stated running time of 187 minutes.
For fans of French opera and productions from the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne.
