«Whisky» is the movie directed by Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablo Stoll (2004), starring Andrés Pazos, Mirella Pascual and Daniel Hendler, on DVD.
Jacobo runs a modest sock factory in Uruguay and his life is pure routine. When his brother Herman, who emigrated years ago, announces a visit, he asks Marta, his employee, to pretend to be his wife to keep up appearances. With dry, melancholic humor, it narrates the loneliness and lack of communication in lives marked by silence.
PAL multi-region DVD from Cameo, with audio in Spanish and Castilian (Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1), English subtitles and 96 minutes.
For those who enjoy independent Uruguayan cinema and slow-paced dramas with subtle humor.
