«Alan Lomax In Memoriam» is the album by folk group Mielotxin, released in 2017 by Inquedanzas Sonoras on CD.
The album pays tribute to American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax, who in 1953 traveled through several towns in Navarre recording folk music, dances and rural settings. Mielotxin updates that traditional repertoire from Basque music, with arrangements close to modern folk.
Mielotxin is a folk group formed in Tafalla (Navarre) in 2003. This recording, released on October 13, 2017, expands their line-up to a quartet with Salva Tarazona on percussion and Xabi Folch on double bass.
For fans of Navarrese folk and traditional Basque music, and for those who want to discover the sonic legacy that Alan Lomax recorded in Navarre.
