This essential compilation, titled 'An Introduction to Entartete Musik', offers a profound look at musical works that were suppressed or displaced during the Third Reich. Released by the Decca label, this album features over 75 minutes of music by prominent composers such as Braunfels, Korngold, Ullmann, Schulhoff, Goldschmidt, Schreker, Eisler, Haas, and Krenek, rescuing fundamental pieces of 20th-century musical culture from oblivion.
The disc is a historical document that captures artistic resistance against the political censorship of the era. With a curated selection of excerpts, this CD is an indispensable tool for understanding the impact of the Nazi regime on artistic creation and celebrating the survival of these compositions despite the persecution and exile of their authors.
