«Arriaga: Complete String Quartets» is the album with the complete string quartets by Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, released on CD by MDG Records in 2000.
Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, a Spanish composer born in 1806, is represented here with his three string quartets, youthful works in a classical and romantic style. The group Voces-Streichquartett performs the quartets in D minor, A major and E-flat major, which combine lyrical movements with passages of virtuosic agility. It includes the Pastoral from Quartet No. 1 and the variations from the second.
Recorded with DDD digital technology and released by Musikproduktion Dabringhaus und Grimm in 2000. Performers are Bujor Prelipccean and Anton Diaconu (violins), Constantin Stanciu (viola) and Dan Prelipccean (cello).
For lovers of chamber music and early classical repertoire who want to discover a little-performed Spanish composer.
