«Astor & Elis» is the jazz album by Phil Woods, released in 1996 by Chesky Records, on CD.
Saxophonist Phil Woods pays tribute to Astor Piazzolla and Elis Regina in an album that fuses jazz with Latin music. The pieces combine a language close to post-bop and Latin jazz, with arrangements that leave room for improvisation and dialogue between the sax and the rest of the ensemble.
The recording features Phil Markowitz, Bill Charlap, Duduka Da Fonseca, David Finck, Bill Goodwin and David Chesky. The catalog number of this edition is JD146.
For jazz listeners interested in the crossover with Latin music and for followers of saxophonist Phil Woods.
