«Cello-Suiten» is the album by Mstislav Rostropovich featuring Johann Sebastian Bach's cello suites, released by EMI Classics in 1995 in a 2-CD set.
The album presents Bach's six suites for solo cello, each with its prelude and the customary Baroque dance movements, such as allemande, courante, sarabande and giga. Recorded at the Basilica of St. Mary Magdalene, it offers a benchmark reading of the cello repertoire, with Rostropovich's characteristic deep sound.
The set contains two CDs with the suites BWV 1007-1012, with a total duration of 146 minutes. The recording is digital (DDD) and was released by EMI Classics with catalogue number 5 55363 2.
Aimed at classical music enthusiasts and cello performers, especially those seeking a historic version of Bach's suites.
