«Bach J S: Sonatas for Vla Da Gamba & Harps Nos 1-3» is the album by Johann Sebastian Bach, released in 2009 by Documents Classics, on CD.
The CD brings together the three sonatas BWV 1027-1029, originally composed for viola da gamba and harpsichord, here arranged for cello and piano by Pablo Casals and Paul Baumgartner. As a supplement, the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major, BWV 1050, is added, with Eugene Istomin, Joseph Szigeti and John Wummer under Casals's direction.
2009 edition on one CD; monaural recording from 1950 in Prades and bilingual booklet in German and English.
Will appeal to followers of Pablo Casals and those seeking historical recordings of Bach's chamber repertoire.
