«Barton Hollow» is the debut album by American duo The Civil Wars, released in 2012 by Columbia on CD.
The Civil Wars perform roots folk with country and pop nuances, supported by intimate vocal harmonies and a restrained production. Lyrics of songs like «Poison & Wine», «20 Years» and the title track «Barton Hollow» move between love, disillusionment and the search for redemption, with a melancholic tone.
The album includes 18 tracks, with covers of «Billie Jean», «I Want You Back» and «You Are My Sunshine», plus a demo and an acoustic recording.
Aimed at listeners of alternative country and Americana, especially those who appreciate duets with vocal harmonies and melancholic lyrics.
