«Beaster» is the alternative rock EP by Sugar, Bob Mould's band, released in 1993 on Creation Records on CD.
This EP takes Sugar to rougher territory than the band's usual melodic rock: distorted guitars, abrupt shifts in intensity and an energy close to hardcore, without losing Bob Mould's melodic instinct. The raw, visceral sound connects Hüsker Dü's noise with the melody of nineties indie rock.
It went on sale on April 16, 1993 and the songs are sung in English.
It will appeal to fans of nineties indie rock and to those tracing Bob Mould's evolution after Hüsker Dü.
