«Missa Solemnis / Messe en ut majeur» is the compilation album of Beethoven conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini, released in 1990 by EMI, as a double CD.
Edition bringing together two sacred works by Beethoven: the monumental Missa Solemnis in D major, Op. 123, recorded by Harper, Baker, Tear and Sotin with the New Philharmonia Chorus and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Mass in C major, Op. 86, with Ameling, Baker, Altmeyer and Rintzler alongside the New Philharmonia Orchestra & Chorus. Giulini's conducting imparts a solemn and expressive character to both choral scores.
Released by EMI Classics as a remastered compilation in double CD format. Stereo recordings, with liturgical text in Latin.
