«Beethoven: Symphonie No. 3 »Eroica« · Ouvertüre »Egmont«» is the album by Herbert von Karajan and the Berliner Philharmoniker, released in 1986, on vinyl LP.
It contains two works by Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, 'Eroica', and the 'Egmont' overture. The symphony, composed between 1803 and 1804, was born as a tribute to Napoleon, though Beethoven withdrew the dedication; it opens with the Allegro con brio and includes the Marcia funebre. The overture comes from the incidental music for Goethe's drama.
Stereo recording released by Deutsche Grammophon on April 1, 1986.
A record for collectors of classical music vinyl and admirers of Karajan's versions with the Berlin Philharmonic.
