Synopsis of Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 / Schubert: Symphony No. 8

This special Deutsche Grammophon edition features a historic 1968 live recording where the legendary conductor Otto Klemperer leads the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of two masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire: Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 'Unfinished'. Originally released in 1991 as part of the orchestra's 150th-anniversary edition, this collector's item captures Klemperer's interpretive intensity at the Vienna Musikverein.

This album is an essential reference for classical music enthusiasts, noted for its remastered sound quality and historical significance. The combination of Beethoven's dramatic power and Schubert's lyrical melancholy under the baton of one of the 20th century's most influential conductors makes this CD an indispensable addition to any serious music library.
